Seattle, Washington

Seattle wedding photographer

Skyline views, lakeside ceremonies and city engagement sessions with an editorial edge. Seattle is a short drive from home, and some of my favorite galleries were made here.

Why Seattle works so well on camera

Seattle gives you water and skyline in the same frame. Lake Union, Lake Washington and Elliott Bay wrap around the city, so golden hour usually comes with a reflection. On clear days Mount Rainier shows up to the south, and the Olympics line the horizon to the west.

It’s also the best place in the state for the fashion side of my work. Brick alleys, glass towers and old warehouse districts make editorial portraits feel natural. One couple described their gallery as an inner-city engagement shoot and a lakeside wedding, and that mix is exactly what Seattle does best.

Engagement session spots I love in Seattle

Kerry Park

The classic skyline view on Queen Anne, with the Space Needle front and center. It gets busy at sunset, so I plan these for a weekday when we can.

Gas Works Park

Industrial towers, a grassy hill and Lake Union with the skyline across the water. It’s bold and a little unexpected, which suits couples who want something different.

Pike Place Market and the waterfront

Neon signs, cobblestones and the energy of the market. Early mornings are quieter and the light is softer.

Discovery Park

Bluffs, beach and the West Point lighthouse inside the city limits. It feels like the coast without leaving town.

Planning a Seattle wedding

Build traffic into your timeline. A ten-minute drive between the ceremony and a portrait spot can take thirty on a Saturday afternoon, so I often suggest portraits close to your venue or a first look before the ceremony. Summer sunsets come after 9 p.m. around the solstice, which gives you long evenings. In winter the light goes early, around 4:20 p.m. in December, so we plan portraits for the early afternoon.

Some city parks require a permit for professional photos. I’ll let you know which spots need one when we plan your session.
